Sometimes the mish seems like a rollercoaster. Life is like a rollercoaster as well. But here the bumps are more rapid and closer together. After an awesome week like last week, this week was a bit rough.
Monday (Last Pday)- Relaxed in the House. And computers not working was a bit annoying. Also Rui didnt show up to our appointment. :(
Tuesday (5th)- District Meeting. Always love going to these because we get to go to Coimra a really old city in Portugal! And the Elders and Sisters in our District our awesome! They are the Zone Leaders and Sister Training Leaders as well. So I am learning a lot! :) Also we taught Isabel and Margurida, a mother and daughter. They are really nice and we having been teaching them for a month or so now cause they only have time once a week. They have had a hard time reading the Book of Mormon so this lesson we really covered the importance of reading. Isabel also has been having questions about Joseph Smith so we helped her answer those as well.
Wednesday (6th)- Day of stregthing our RC/LAs. Was a pretty good day.
Thursday (7th)- Day of discouragement. We met with an investigator that had the most potnetial to be baptized this past weekend. For this story I will copy what I wrote to President.
Célia. She is from Cape Verde, and the Elders here before us, basically taught her everything and she was a baptism just waiting for us. Well through the craziness of a whitewash, we lost contact with her during the first two weeks of our first transfer here. Then after that she told us that she didnt want to leave the church that she was already apart of. We asked her for one more meeting because we havent had the chance to meet her. So we got that chance, and then she continued to want meet with us. So we really took our time, and tried to get the bottom of her iceburg. We figured out that her mom didnt want to her to leave their church. So we challenged Célia to pray and to ask Heavenly Father for help with talking to her mom. We knew that she wanted to be baptized, she was just scared of taking a leap of faith. So not this past weekend, but the on before that, she talked with her mom, and he mom said that the decision is up to Célia. We were so excited when we learned this. We then invited her to be baptized in that lesson! We really felt that she was ready to be baptized. But in that lesson she said she didnt want to leave her church. Our hearts were shattered! Afterwards we decided that we would leave her for a little bit, but always just say hi every once and a while, and invite her to church. This was at the beginning of the week, and it kinda set the tone for the rest of the week.
Friday (8th)- Now we are in a slump and so during Weekly Planning we came up with creative ways to find new people. Elder Puriri had a pretty bad nose bleed and so we had to go home for a little bit so he could rest.
Saturday (9th)- We explored our area! We went to city called Estarreja. That was nice to change things up a bit!
Sunday (10th)- Mothers day! Highlight of my week! Talking to minha familia! :) Elder Puriri talked to his family at 7am our time. It was like 6pm in New Zealand and midnight in Utah. Haha! :) His family is so funny! Then I talked to my family at 4pm our time, which was like 9am in Idaho! So much fun! Everyone is happy and healthy! :)
Monday (Today)- We went to the beach! That was pretty nice. Waves looked nice, and sand in our feet was nice as well! :) This next week will be better!
Sometimes we have trials cause we need to learn something, or change something in our lives. Never forget the Lord is nearby! He is our Savior!
