It was the official last day of "transfers." Meaning the last day of the 6-week period we call a transfer. I ended going on a division with Elder Jones, my financial comp, because the executives were doing numbers in the office. We had a FHE with some recent-converts in our ward, and it was pretty fun. While their were cooking the dinner, the oven turned off because they ran out of gas! So we went to the chapel to finish our dinner. The best part was it was a bunch of black people, me and Elder Jones were the only white kids! :D There were three Capo Verdeanas, and two Angolanos. So it was pretty chill and joyful! Portugal is the best because they colonized a lot of Africa, and so many cool countries speak Portuguese! Capo Verde, Angola, Mozambique, and São Tomé! The people from their are the best! An awesome way to end the transfer!
Monday the 21st. President told Elder Morrison and Elder Erhardt (the Executives), to come to the Mission Home to recieve the "transfers." This was at about noonish. So when they finally came back, they started right away on updating the transfer sheet and making plans. So, through out the day I would just walk over and see what they were doing. ;) And by the end of the day, aboutmidnight, well all was said and done, I knew where everyone was going. :D Oh yeah, we didnt go to sleep til about 1am.
Tuesday the 22nd, teh actual day of transfers. We had to get to the office early so that the executives could finalize everything, and then "realease" the transfers at about 11sh. Once they were realeased, we waited for all HECK to break loose. I've witnessed both this transfer, and the back end of the one when I got to the office, that someone always messes up, and doesnt follow their travel plans. Sometimes missionaries can be so stupid! ;) Sometimes, we think we can do it OUR way, and not the LORD'S way (I'm not saying that the travel plans made by the executives are "inspired," but the have the whole picture and whole mission at their view, while we as missionaries sometimes only have a narrow and tunnel vision view). Many people passed by the office, lots of friends, and lots of new faces. It was super fun! However, like Monday night, we didnt leave the office till midnight, and I didnt get to bed till about 1am. Something new about this transfer is the APs no longer have an "area," (normally, they have an area here in Porto) they just got sent to an area to divisions this whole transfer. Also, we have two duplas of "traveling trainers," one elder dupla, and one sister dupla. They also dont have an area, but are sent by president to a certain area to train and do divisions. However, unlike the APs, they will change areas throughout the transfer. So, that'll cause a headache in our work. But it'll be fun. Also, President has taken all the cars away. No cars can be used for prosolyting purposes. Only for office work. So, we dont have anymore. In the end, it might be a good thing because the office was making me out of shape. :)
Wednesday the 23rd. ORIENTATION! :) Like last transfer, we had to give a training to all the new missionaries. Only problem is, is that they are always really tired! So, we try to keep it short and simple, so that they dont pass out on us. Then, three of the "greenies" were going to Madeira, the Island, and they had a plane at 8pm, and they had to be at the airport at 7pm, and our orientation got done at5pm. So, these three "greenies" had to repack their bags, because you can only bring one bag of 23kgs to Madeira. So it was madhouse in the office because they were all packing, and then everyone else (we had 14 new missionaries, which means 28 missionaries in total) decided to go to the office and pick stuff that they "needed." Haha, the office was packed! I wish I would've gotten a photo! It would've been so cool! :) Our office isnt really big. The greenies and their trainers got to the airport on time, and it seemed like everyone got what they wanted. And for the third night in a row, I went to be around midnihgt/1ish.
Thursday the 24th. Office was a little busy cause the new tranfer had started, and Elder Morrison wasnt feeling 100%, so after office hours we went home, and he rested that night. So during that first week we didnt get anytime to work in our area. :(
So their was transfers! However, on the 24th (last Pday), we went to the FC Porto stadium and museum, and I promised pictures so I'll include those in this email! My adventures of this past week will come in another email! :)
I love you all! To all my missionaries friends, give love to your office elders (if you have them, cause I know some missions dont)! :)
Fica fixe,
Elder Yoder
